Fisher and Paykel Appliances Refrigeration Compressor Technology to Offer Improved Energy Consumption

The revolutionary compressor technology is being produced with Embraco, a subsidiary of the Whirlpool Corporation who manufacturers the Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Gladiator Garage Works, Amana, and Estate brands. The new compressor will be put through extensive field testing and then into mass production shortly thereafter. The F&P Appliance team of engineers expects this innovation will lead the refrigeration industry for years to come.

Current refrigerator compressors contain oil and they must be placed upright during transportation and installation. This new “green” compressor contains no oil and therefore allows for more flexibility in installation as well as more efficient shipping options saving fossil fuel. The result is better energy efficiency and lower operating costs for the customer and more space inside the refrigerator for food storage. It is expected that this new refrigeration compressor technology will allow space for at least one extra fruit and vegetable compartment or deli drawer.
